NHL Playoffs Conference Finals – Game 5
Flyers 4 – 2 Canadiens
The Philadelphia Flyers advance to the Stanley Cup final round for the first time in 13 years. They have been the biggest surprise in these playoffs and our pick as the Dark Horse to win the Stanley Cup. Gionta jumped out of the gates in the first minute to put the Habs up 1-0. Moments later, Richards resounded with a shorthanded goal to tie the game at 1. The Flyers also received scoring from Asham and Carter, who netted 2 goals on the night. Gomez scored in the 3rd to close the gap by 1 goal, but Carter’s empty net goal sealed the deal for Philly. The Flyers played with complete urgency and determination. They did everything they needed to win and scarified every part of their bodies to make it happen. The Montreal Canadiens had a great run and have a lot to be proud of. The Philadelphia Flyers head to Chicago for start of the final round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, which begins on Saturday. Should be exciting!
